Investigation Summary
On April 19, 2008, Employee #1, a paint inspector, was going to inspect the underside of a bridge (Number 3269) to ensure the work was progressing by Maryland State Highway Administration standards. He parked his car in the closed shoulder and crossed to live lane on the ramp and was struck by a vehicle entering the ramp. He suffered multiple, unspecified, bodily injuries. Employee #1 was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Hospital where he hospitalized for seven days. It is not clear why the employee opted to walk on the live lane, when he was to walk along the closed shoulder to get to the underside of the bridge where the work was being conducted.
