Employee Dies from a Snowmobile Collision with a Tree

Shortly before midnight on December 4, 2008, Employee #1, a snowmaker employee who works the night-shift at a ski resort, was involved in a collision with a tree while operating a snowmobile. Employee #1 was not wearing a snowmobile helmet at the time of the collision and was wearing a black coat. It was also snowing at the time of the incident. Employee #1 was immobilized and was not found until after daylight the following morning. During that night the temperature on the mountain reached single digits in Fahrenheit. Employee #1 was taken to the hospital, suffering from frostbite and circulatory injuries, was in a coma and died several days later.
