Employee Fractures Ribs, Collapsed Lung in Kick from Horse

On March 6, 2009, Employee #1, a farm hand, was leading a horse to a barn after a workout. The horse reportedly began to behave erratically, rose up on its hind legs and spun around. The horse struck Employee #1. After an unidentified person at the farm found Employee #1 on the ground, she was transported to a hospital by Employee #2. Employee #1 was transferred from the first hospital via life-flight to another medical center for treatment. Employee #1 sustained 6-8 fractured ribs on her right side, severely bruised (right) collapsed lung, and loss of function in her right kidney. Employee #1 was hospitalized for approximately 14 days, and was released from the hospital on March 15, 2009.
