Employee Is Injured in Fall from Ladder

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on June 30, 2008, Employee #1 was working from an unextended extension ladder, at a jobsite where steel erection work was being performed on a new commercial building. The ladder was positioned on a flat, even surface and leaned on a fully anchored structural steel beam/column, when it slipped out from under Employee #1. His leg got stuck in one of the rungs, and he fell approximately 4 feet to the ground. Employee #1 was hospitalized for an unspecified, serious injury. Employee #1 had a tool belt for holding tools while ascending and descending the ladder, and was facing the ladder at the time of the accident.
