Investigation Summary
On August 11, 2009 Employee #1 and Employee #2 of Superior Construction Co. of Indiana, LLC were doing work (surveying) along the entrance ramp from westbound J. Turner Boulevard to north bound I-95. They were both wearing high visibility vests, but there were no signs posted in the area to alert drivers that men were working on the highway. Employee #1 was struck by an automobile identified as a Nissan Pathfinder while he was spray painting reference marks for future paving. Employee #1 was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death was from blunt force injuries (fractures, lacerations, etc.) to the head, torso and extremities.
