Event: 04/26/2008
Employee Is Killed in Fall from Tower, Other Is Not Injured

At approximately 6:30 a.m. on April 26, 2008, Employee #1, an electrician, was working on the Pelli South Tower at the Project City Center, when he fell from level 27 to level 25. Employee #2 noticed at approximately 6:20 a.m. that Employee #1 had not reported in for work. At approximately 6:20 a.m., Employee #2 began searching for Employee #1 to see if he had arrived at the jobsite. Shortly after the search was initiated, Employee #2 received a notification from another coworker that there was a man down on level 25 and it was possibly a Fisk Electric employee. At approximately 6:35 a.m., Employee #2 arrived at the location where Employee #1 was lying. Employee #2 stated that he saw Employee #1 lying face down and slumped over a raised concrete ledge that measured 6 in. wide by 23 in. high by 25 ft long and located on the 25th level of the Pelli Tower. Employee #2 stated that when he came closer to Employee #1, it appeared that Employee #1 was not breathing. Employee #2 stated that Perini Safety Officers arrived on scene, removed Employee #1 off the ledge and began performing CPR on Employee #1. The Perini Safety Officers administered CPR until the Paramedics arrived. Employee #1 was bedded down and transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 7:39 a.m. on April 26, 2008.
