Employee Catches Hand in Splitter Machine and Is Injured

At about 10:45 a.m. on January 30, 2008, Employee #1 was hand feeding foam into a Canoga 17 inch splitter machine, Serial Number CN403, so that the foam was trimmed to specifications. Employee #1 had her right hand on the work platform "feeding" the foam into two rollers. Behind her right hand was a saw blade. The employee's right hand got "caught" in saw blade that was behind her right hand, and it was caught in the rollers and degloved. Employee #1 did not have the outer shell cut off. A coworker was present, but did not see the accident. The employee had surgery to repair two of the knuckles on her right hand and also received over 150 stitches on the palm of her hand.
