Event: 08/16/2008
Employee Is Struck and Killed by Motor Vehicle

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on August 16 2008, an employee along with a coworker was walking on the service road of Interstate 10 in Iowa, Louisiana, when the employee was struck by a car and killed. The employees were walking to their personal vehicles after end of their work shift. The employees had parked the company owned equipment under a street billboard about 100 feet off of the road. The employee and the coworker were approximately half way to their cars when a car without the headlights on went off the road and hit the employee knocking him about 70 feet down the road and in the ditch. The coworker was not hit and immediately called emergency services to the scene. The employee was pronounced dead on site. The automobile did not stop but the men were later caught and confessed.
