Employee Burns Hand after Falling from a Ladder Near a Grill

At approximately 8:10 a.m. on July 24, 2007, Employee #1, a hotel maintenance worker, was changing a light bulb in a restaurant of the hotel. The light was located right above the grill and he was using a 4-ft, A-frame ladder to access it. He leaned the ladder against the grill and as he was replacing the light bulb the ladder slipped away from the grill causing him to fall forward. In trying to break his fall, he placed his right hand down on top of the hot grill, burning his hand. A cook in the kitchen caught and pulled him from falling completely on top of the grill. Employee #1 sustained first degree burns on his right hand but was not hospitalized.
