Investigation Summary
At approximately 10:00 a.m. on October 15, 2007, Employee #1 was removing an air condition unit for cleaning and reinstallation in an apartment. While cutting through the caulking around the air condition unit using his utility knife, Employee #1's knife slipped and cut his left eye. He was transported to the hospital, where he was treated and released the same day. The employee had a return visit two days later, at which time the doctors diagnosed him with an infection, provided treatment and medication, and released him again. On October 18, the employee returned to the hospital due to the pain of the infected eye and on October 20, the doctors removed part of the employee's left eye. The employee was released from the hospital on October 24 and was advised to return in two weeks for a follow up visit to inspect if the remaining part of the eye would need to be removed.
