Employee Falls Off Porch and Dies from Injuries

On May 21, 2007, Employee #1, a carpenter, and a coworker were installing decorative railings on the front porch of a single-family home, which measured 14 feet by 6 feet. Employee #1 was stepping over the railing to climb onto the material lift, which would have lowered him to the ground level. As Employee #1 stepped over the railing, he slipped and fell to the ground. Employee #1 sustained thoracic injuries, including broken ribs. He died six days later from his injuries.
