Event: 05/10/2007
Employee Is Pulled Into Centrifuge and Killed

At approximately 8:44 a.m. on May 10, 2007, an employee was operating a centrifuge to remove excess zinc from coated parts such as nuts and bolts. The employee stopped the centrifuge by pressing the off button on the on/off control switch located on the centrifuge. The employee then began to manually remove zinc build-up on the interior walls of the centrifuge. During this process, the employee leaned against the on/off control switch and started the centrifuge. The arm of the employee became caught-in the basket of the centrifuge, and the employee was pulled into the machine. The employee was killed.
