Investigation Summary

At approximately 1:33 p.m. on June 20, 2008, and employee was operating a Crown RC 5500 standup electric industrial tractor in the company's warehouse at the fresh vegetable processing facility. The employee was rounding a corner on the forklift at an inside doorway between rooms inside the warehouse while he had his leg outside the running lines of the machine. He drove close by a corner traffic bumper squeezing his leg between the forklift and the pipe, crushing his lower left leg. The Kern County Fire Department responded at the site to assist the employee. The employee was taken to Kern Medical Center. The employee was hospitalized and treated for fractured leg.
