Investigation Summary
On July 6, 2007, an employee was working in agriculture, hired as a field laborer and was manually harvesting grapes. The employee was not feeling well and collapsed while working. A coworker ran to the foreman and asked for help. The employee was taken and placed into an air conditioned vehicle and given water. The foreman used the company radio to call emergency medical services. The employee was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital within 30 minutes. On the day of the incident, the temperature in the area was 97 degrees Fahrenheit with humidity at 43. The employee was treated for hyperthermia and released after 24 hours.
