Employee Is Injured When Car Landed on Chest

At approximately 12:10 p.m. on June 19, 2008, an employee was working for a auto wrecking company in south San Diego. The vehicle he was working under slipped off of it's supports and landed on his chest. The employee was working under the front of the vehicle under the engine compartment when it fell off of one of the wheel rim stands when the wheel rim fell over or collapsed. The employee was trapped for an unknown period of time until other employees came over and lifted the vehicle off of him. The employee was transported to Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest where he underwent treatment for a crushing injury to his upper chest, and was hospitalized for more than 24 hours.
