Investigation Summary
On March 24, 2008, Employee #1 was a carpenter performing maintenance and repairs on the bleachers for the football field at El Cajon Valley High School. He removed a 5 ft long section of 2-in. by 10-in. bleacher decking. He was using a Sawzall to notch a replacement section of decking when the wind blew his hat over his eyes. He set the saw down and was injured when he stepped into the opening where the deck board had been removed. He fell approximately 1 to 2 ft and struck his abdomen on a deck board. He was hospitalized at Sharp Memorial Hospital in Kearney Mesa for treatment of unspecified injuries.
