Investigation Summary
At approximately 9:30 p.m. on October 15, 2007, an employee, a kitchen worker, was cleaning the inside of an exhaust hood and standing on a "A" frame aluminum ladder. The employee was standing above the counter height and working directly over the deep fat fryers. The employee lost his balance and stuck his foot out to correct himself. His foot slipped into the deep fryer that was at 400 degrees cooking temperature. The employee sustained serious injuries. The employee hospitalized and treated at UCSD Burn Center, where he underwent skin grafts to repair serious third degree burns to his right foot.
