Employee Fall from Ladder and Later Dies

On September 10, 2007, an employee was working from a step ladder to install car wash machinery at a commercial car wash. The employee fell approximately 5 ft. backwards off the ladder. He struck his head on the pavement. The employee was transported to a Danville, IL, hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:01 PM. A coworker was working within 10 ft. of the employee. No weather conditions played a role in the work place fatality. The employee died of coronary atherosclerosis and another factor contributing to death was craniocerebral injuries from the fall.
