Investigation Summary
At approximately 1:10 p.m. on May 30, 2007, an employee, a technician working in the Crane Department at Crane Equipment and Services, a crane and hoist manufacturer, was pinched between two large I-Beams. The employee was assisting in the "rolling" of a 36 by 262 by 39-ft 11-in beam, when the beam shifted and pinned him between the beam being "rolled" and a beam on the floor. The operator of the 20 ton overhead crane quickly moved the beam and freed the employee. The employee suffered an internal laceration, internal bruising, and strain, sprain and contusions to his foot. The employee was hospitalized for five days in order to monitor the internal injuries.
