Event: 05/10/2007
Employee's Ankle Is Fractured When Struck by Forklift

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on May 10, 2007, Employee #1 was acting as a spotter for moving a mobile home at a plant site. The forklift operator used Employee #1 to help back him through the yard. When they came to a point to make a turn the operator was distracted by another employee coming up to him on the opposite side of the forklift and speaking to him. Instead of looking back to Employee #1 when he finished his conversation, the operator started without warning in a forward movement. Employee #1 was struck by the right rear tire of the forklift which ran up his right leg, fracturing his ankle and leg. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
