Investigation Summary
At approximately 7:15 a.m. on November 11, 2008, Employee #1 was operating a granite grinding and polishing machine. While adjusting the water nozzle on the granite edge and the diamond wheel to prevent burning or excessive heating of the granite edge, his right little finger became caught in the nip point between the moving granite sheet and the vertical roller. Employee #1 sustained a fracture and crushing injury of the finger. He had failed to deenergize the equipment prior to adjusting the water nozzle.
