Event: 01/07/2008
Employee's Finger Is Amputated by Conveyor

At approximately 3:00 p.m. on January 07, 2008, Employee #1, a regular employee who was a laborer/egg belt runner, was working at a chicken egg ranch facility that produced, sorted, packed, and shipped eggs to commercial outfits. Employee #1 was operating an "ANACONDA" egg belt conveyor at House Number 13 of Chicken Egg Ranch Number 6 in Lakeview, CA. While running the egg collection conveyor lines, Employee #1 used her right hand to try and clean stuck feathers from a plastic transfer strip of the belt conveyor that had not been stopped or deenergized. Her right ring finger got caught between the belt drives and was amputated. Employee #1 was taken to the Central Occupational Medical Facility in Moreno Valley, CA for treatment.
