Employee Is Injured When Arm Is Caught in Winder Bar

At 10:45 p.m. on December 17, 2007, Employee #1 sustained a serious injury to his left forearm when it became entangled in the winder bar and the plastic sheet that was being wound onto the energized winder bar. Employee #1 stated that at the time of injury he was operating the winder machine and two other coworkers were helping. Employee #1 stated that they were running plastic sheets about 140 in. long. Employee #1 stated that he was feeding and tucking the cut plastic sheets onto the winder bars at approximately 2 minute intervals. Employee #1 was tucking the plastic sheet around the winder bar when Employee #1 felt his left hand being pulled into the plastic film. Employee #1 suffered a fracture and was subsequently transported to San Antonio Medical Center where he was admitted.
