Employee Amputates Fingertip in Hydro-Pneumatic Press

At 1:20 p.m. on October 29, 2007, Employee #1, a set-up operator employed by Hayden Automotive in Corona, California, was making an adjustment to a Schmidt Technology Hydro-Pneumatic Press CLH 186, Model Number 74- 5784-03, Serial Number 2-0009. The press cycled and caught Employee #1's index fingertip on his left hand. A coworker drove Employee #1 to the Comp Clinic in Corona, California, for emergency treatment. He was referred to an orthopedic specialist in Corona. The medical report listed an amputation (traumatic-partial) complicated of the left second digit finger.
