Employee's Fingers Injured in Rip Saw

At approximately 8:35 a.m. on October 25, 2007, Employee #1 was working at a wood working facility manufacturing cabinets and display fixtures for specialty retail stores. He was cutting a 15-in. wide by 32.25-in. long by 0.50-in. thick plywood laminated piece. He was using a 10-in. DELTA type RT31 circular table ripsaw without a hood guard. The piece kicked back and rode on the saw blade and his left hand contacted the moving saw blade. He sustained an amputation of his left little and index fingers and a laceration of middle and ring fingers. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
