Employee fractures leg in fall from joist

At approximately 11:45 a.m. on September 28, 2007, Employee #1 was retrieving a choker from an 18,000 lb, 31 ft 4 in. long joist. He was shinning on a 3-in. flange of the joist when the joist pivoted and he lost his balance. Employee #1 fell 13 ft 8 1/2-in., landing on his right thigh and fracturing his femur. Paramedics responded within minutes. The provided emergency medical aid before transporting Employee #1 to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. He was released after four days.
