Employee's Foot Is Fractured When Caught in Carwash

At approximately 1:00 p.m. on April 28, 2007, Employee #1 was working at a carwash facility. Employee #1 and a coworker realized that the next vehicle's skirting was too low to go over the metal housing at the tail-end of the conveying system. They did not notify anyone of this situation and decided to wash the vehicle right where it was parked. Employee #1 moved to wash the hood of the vehicle by standing in front of the vehicle. His right foot was on the track, where the return roller travels towards the housing. His ankle was forcibly pushed by the moving return roller against the opening, 4-in. high by 10.25-in. wide, of the metal housing. Employee #1 was hospitalized with a fractured foot.
