Employee Is Burned While Cleaning Tray Sealer

At approximately 10:45 a.m. on May 9, 2007, Employee #1 was cleaning an AmeriPak Tray Sealer, Model Number 145, Serial Number 280, at a high school. Employee #1 reached into the moving metal squares of the sealer to clean them with a wet rag. Employee #1's right hand got caught between the meat squares and the hot drum (temperature .76-degrees to 300-degrees Fahrenheit) of the sealer. Employee #1 attempted to get her right hand out but to no avail. The other kitchen employees came and turned off the sealer and remove Employee #1's right hand. Employee #1 was hospitalized for one day with third-degree burns to the top of her right hand.
