Investigation Summary
An employee was working for Horizon Lathing, Inc., an incorporated, licensed contractor that engaged in the plastering and lathing business. He was on a scaffold spraying a brown coating, when the hose of the spray gun inadvertently displaced one of the scaffold's planks. The employee fell through the opening. He fell approximately 20 feet, from the fifth tier of the platforms, struck his head against a guardrail, and landed on the ground. He was immediately taken by paramedics to the Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center, where he received two stitches to his head. The injury line said he sustained a fracture as well. No citations were issued to the employer, as the Division was unable to establish that any violations of Title 8 safety orders caused or contributed to the occurrence of the accident.
