Investigation Summary
On March 26, 2009, Employee #1, a day laborer, was trimming an 80-ft-tall palm tree on a private residential property. He began trimming fronds at the bottom and continued upwards. According to the property owner, when Employee #1 was approximately half way up the palm tree, branches above him slid down and crushed him. The Fire Department rescued Employee #1 via ladder. He was then transported to Garfield Hospital, where he died.
