Investigation Summary
At approximately 11:15 a.m. on June 12, 2007, Employee #1, a trailer mechanic, was working alone and engaged in replacing an inoperative crankshaft landing gear, beneath and to the front of an approximate 41,500-pound fully loaded 53-ft trailer, Identification Number 62226, License Number T400064, and Vehicle Identification Number 1JJV532WX7L055288. He was using a 6,000-pound rated jack stand to support the left front of the trailer. As Employee #1 removed the nuts and bolts of the landing leg support, the jack stand folded and the fully loaded trailer shifted laterally and down, pinning him underneath the trailer. He died on site.
