Employee Amputates Finger While Using Table Saw

On January 23, 2007, Employee #1 was cutting 6-in. by 9-in. wood strips on a table saw with a blade that was not protected with a hood-type guard or other provision. Employee #1 had just finished a job and slipped on the floor in front of the saw. Employee #1 tried to regain his balance and inadvertently placed his left hand onto the rotating blade. Employee #1 sustained the amputation of his middle finger and index fingers on the left hand. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
