Employee injured in fall through feeder deck opening

On December 14, 2007, Employee #1, of Woodland Biomass Power, LTD, was cleaning and sweeping sand and debris off a 14 ft 6 in. high feeder deck. He encountered an area where a large section of metal grid had been removed to make it easier to clean the sand and debris. He was cleaning in this area when he lost his balance and fell through the unprotected opening. Employee #1 sustained serious injuries, for which he was hospitalized.
