Employee Lacerates Finger While Operating Table Saw

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on April 7, 2009, Employee #1, a cabinetmaker, was cutting wood for a cabinet order on a miter saw in the work shop. Employee #1 made the miter cut on one side of the board, then turned the board over and attempted to back the board into the turning saw blade to make the miter cut on the opposite side. The blade grabbed the board and kicked it back across the table. It caused Employee #1's small finger and palm on his right hand to strike the saw blade, nearly amputating his finger and causing a deep laceration in his palm. Employee #1 was taken to a local medical center where he was admitted and underwent surgery on his right hand.
