Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 202550026
Event: 02/23/2009
Employee Is Burned by Arc Flash

On February 23, 2009, an employee, an experienced electrical tester and technician, started his usual early morning shift, intending to finish the assembly of a new power system that he and several coworkers had been working on. He began to fasten a hinge to the frame of the power unit. The screwdriver he was using accidentally contacted a live bus bar and the ensuing arc burned his face and right hand. The employee was taken by emergency response personnel to a local medical center, where he was admitted for treatment for his burns.
