Investigation Summary
At approximately 9:00 a.m. on April 1, 2008, Employee #1, a carpenter, was cutting a section of wood for framing a skylight. He held the section of wood, a 2-in. by 6-in. by 8 ft long section, with his left hand. With a circular saw in his right hand, he knelt on the ground with his left knee. As he began the cut, the blade kicked back causing his hand to go into the saw, cutting his left thumb. Employee #1 was hospitalized for a lacerated thumb.
