Investigation Summary
At around 5:30 a.m. on February 8, 2008, an employee was working for Plantel Nurseries in Santa Maria, CA. He had been working there for three years. He was lining up a transplanting unit around 5:30 a.m., when he noticed that his hand was cut. He waited until around 6:00 a.m., when he asked a coworker to take him to a hospital. Around 9:00 a.m., he was transferred to Santa Barbara, where he underwent surgery and the partial amputation of two fingers.
