Employee's Face Is Lacerated by Wheel of Hand Grinder

At approximately 6:45 a.m. on May 15, 2007, Employee #1 was working for Sun Valley Group, an agricultural flower grower. The employee and a coworker were assigned to replace sheet metal on the roof of the packing warehouse. Employee #1 was using a Rigid hand grinder, Model Number AE041073396, to cut the metal sheeting , when the grinding wheel exploded and pieces of the wheel struck him on the right side of his face. He suffered a laceration was transported to a medical clinic and then to Saint Paul's Hospital for surgery. He was hospitalized for 3 days.
