Investigation Summary
On July 31, 2010, Employee #1 had climbed a ladder to trim a tree at a residential property. The tree was located on a steep incline. The employee fell approximately 12 ft to 13 ft from the ladder. Employee #1 was hospitalized for unspecified injuries. The ladder was secured and had not fallen down. Also, the gardener, that the employee was assisting, was injured while delivering a chainsaw to the employee when he fell with the chainsaw. OSHA was unable to reach the gardener to determine their employer status but found since the work was for less than $500.00 it was excluded from place of employment. Since the project fell under "household domestic service", it was not within the jurisdiction of the Division of Occupational Safety and Health. No other violations were found and no citations were issued.
