Event: 09/29/2010
Employee Falls from Roof

At approximately 10:15 am, on September 29, 2010 Employee #1, a roofer with Clary Roofing was injured when he fell approximately 18 feet from a roof and was transported to Stanford Hospital. Employee #1 suffered multiple fractures and injuries. Employee #1 had first swept the roof of redwood tree needles and debris from the roof section of the addition to the residence which was already sheathed. The homeowner was on the roof with Employee #1 as he started to install lengths of 2 by 4's onto the roof for safer footing before beginning work, as he wanted to supplement the existing roof jacks left by a prior workers. The homeowner said he was sitting on the ridge line and Employee #1 was about to nail another 2 by 4 section in when he saw him slowly start sliding down and futilely trying to catch himself.
