Employee Amputates Two Fingers on Sharp Object

At approximately 4:30 a.m. on May 18, 2007, Employee #1 was standing on a step ladder inside a pit cleaning the rotor compartment from underneath a Branberry Mixer, F80 Number 2. While standing on the step ladder, he lost his balance. In order to prevent himself from falling, he grabbed the steel plate of the rotor compartment. The rotor compartment plate edges were sharp and the tip of his index finger and the top of his middle finger were amputated. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
