Investigation Summary
At approximately 1:20 p.m. on April 27, 2007, Employee #1 was working in Dock Number 1 on the inboard side of the Number 2 engine of a Boeing 757. Employee #1 was using a platform ladder, approximately 5.5 feet high with the steps facing the engine. He usually positions the steps along the length of the engine. Employee #1 stepped off the ladder, possibly forgetting it was positioned differently, and fell to the concrete floor. He was hospitalized with a skull and back fracture and a compressed vertebra. The ladder was in good condition. Employee #1 was an airframe mechanic.
