Employee Amputates Finger While Using Saw

Employee #1 was assigned to rip window stripping out of 1-in. by 4-in. lumber on a 10-in. table saw. While ripping the strips on the table saw, Employee #1 reached over the blade to pull the wood the rest of the way through the blade. The saw kicked back. Employee #1 was wearing gloves and when the wood kicked back, the saw blade caught his glove and pulled his left hand into the saw blade. Employee #1 sustained the amputation of his left middle finger from the tip to the first knuckle. Employee #1 was treated and released.
