Employee Punctures Eye While Using Nail Gun

On April 24, 2007, Employee #1 was nailing the top course of the plywood decking to the top metal on a roof slope with a Max pneumatic-coil nail gun. The nail hit the red iron support instead of the metal, which then deflected off and hit the concrete parapet wall and then ricocheting back to Employee #1's eye. Employee #1 was not wearing his protective eyewear, which he had left on the ground on top of some material. Employee #1 suffered a ruptured globe to his right eye. Employee #1 was hospitalized for two days to have the globe sutured and lens replaced.
