Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 201353380
Event: 07/17/2007
Employee killed in fall from roof support

On July, 2, 2007, Employee #1 was standing on the top plate of a second-story wall. He was near the front of the two-story house, positioning one of the last trusses for the roof. Employee #1 was holding onto a previously-installed truss for support, but let go when he stepped over the last truss to move it. He apparently missed his step and lost his balance, falling backward about 10 ft from the truss. He struck a front porch girder, and then fell approximately 11 ft onto the concrete floor. Employee #1 sustained fractures to his spine, skull, and ribs. He died in the hospital on July 17, 2007, 15 days after the accident.
