Investigation Summary
On September 19, 2006, Employee # 1 was using a digging bar to remove metal flashing that was installed along the edge of a roof. The roof was 62 feet wide by 212 feet long and was approximately 32 feet high. Employee #1 was in a standing position and leaning forward, using the wedge-end of the pry bar to pry the metal flashing off the roof. As he pushed forward, he lost his balance and fell head-first off the roof, landing on his side and back. He sustained multiple broken bones, a shattered pelvis, internal bleeding, and paralysis. Employee #1 was transported to the Trauma Unit of Prince Georges General Hospital, where he was hospitalized and listed in critical condition.
