Employee Is Injured When Struck by Pipe in the Cheek

At approximately 10:15 a.m. on October 20, 2006, Employee #1 was working dismantling an overhead pipe at the exchanger shell for the CRU-2 Exchanger. The pipe was prepared for removal. The rigger rigged the pipe to the crane for lifting and the crane operator signaled to leave the area prior to the lift. Employee #1 was moving from the area when the lift started and the pipe shifted in its rigging. It struck him on the right cheek causing bruising and abrasion. He went to the hospital and returned to work the same day.
