Employee Strikes His Head in Fall and Dies

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on January 28, 2007, Employee #1 and two coworkers were assigned to four different job sites, shoveling and blowing snow. On the third job Employee #1 reported to his coworkers that he had fell and hit his head. He indicated that he was fine and wanted to finish work. The average job took approximately twenty minutes and the incident was not mentioned to their employer. During the last job, the two coworkers worked while Employee #1 stayed in the truck. Employee #1 and the two coworkers returned to the shop after the last job was finished and Employee #1 and one coworker, who lived together, went home. Employee #1 was getting sick and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The cause of his death was due to cranial-cerebral injuries from his fall.
