Employee Fractures and Lacerates Finger in Seamer Machine

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on September 17, 2006, an employee, a machine operator at a tomato canning company was loading steel can lids into a lid seamer machine, Angelus brand can seamer machine. The machine was still operating at the time, allowing for the employee's finger to be caught between the rotating wheel that transfers the lids to the cans, and the frame of the machine. The employee received a severe laceration and fracture to his left index finger. He was not hospitalized.
