Employee Fractures Foot in Fall from Ladder

On October 20, 2008, Employee #1, a roofer, was working with a coworker, making roof repairs to a residential one-story structure. They finished their work, and the coworker was already on the ground. Employee #1 removed clamps that secured their portable extension ladder at the upper end. When he was several steps from the bottom, he lost his balance and fell off of the ladder rung. He fractured his right foot. Employee #1 was taken to the local hospital, where he was kept overnight for observation. Two weeks later, he underwent surgery on his foot.
